2013 has started beautifully in our family as we had our first family trip of the year in Baguio City, riding in our newly-acquired pre-loved car then going home to a rented 2-storey, 2-bedroom apartment that we can at least call our own. So this blog would love to share its beautiful changes, too. One of the many beautiful happenings is the new section, meant for all mompreneurs in the country, called Nanaygosyante of the Month. Nanaygosyante is pun for two Filipino words --- nanay & negosyante; basically the Filipino translation of mompreneur. I admire women, most especially mothers, who decided to be their own boss and run a business; while managing home and family. I am also a big supporter of online shops, which I have showed through featuring them here for the past months and hosting a giveaway; that I hope had helped them promote their business.
My pilot Nanaygosyante issue features an acquaintance back in Highschool, whom I've been with during our dalaga days --- having a drinking spree with our ex-boyfriends. Well, I married my ex-boyfriend and hers had a different ending. Nevertheless, she is a picture of a happy family woman in calm and bliss. Ladies, meet Mona, the mom behind Kaelyn’s Closet.
You won’t believe that she only started her business with a capital of Php 3,000, but she did. No one could even tell that she actually doesn't have a background in entrepreneurship, because she’s a BS Psychology graduate of Miriam College {trivia: HR of Bagfull and Mona are friends}. Can you also believe that she has an online writing job, two kids, a home-based husband (a husband at home is a duty) and a really big house to clean? Nah, she’s not suicidal yet. She’s sane enough to get two nannies to help her; one for each kid. So you’re now turned-off, thinking she’s a career woman? Wait ‘til you
When I visited her place, like what I said, she’s a picture of calm and bliss. Her husband JD (John Denver), along with the nannies and their aunt, were watching Sir Chief and Maya. Don’t you just adore guys who watch sappy telenovelas with you? And don’t you just envy someone who works exactly beside her partner? Mona and JD are seatmates. JD is a work-at-home graphic artist; he made the logo and watermarks of Kaelyn’s Closet. Mona also doesn't forget her wife duties despite her husband's demanding schedule. They always look forward to having movie dates, especially when it's a film they both like. Their partnership goes all the way to Mona's business; because basically, JD finances it so she still wants to consult her husband about it.
The Cuello couple seems to be progressive parents, too. The younger child, Uanne, a 10-month-old baby girl is a joy to see. Ma, she can walk already, and fast! She only has her eyes for Mona (her Mimi) and her nanny. But the fate is fair enough that the older child, Uri, their 2-year-old boy is closer to his Didi (JD). Despite having nannies, they make sure that they’re in control of the situation especially if it concerns their children. Mona loves running around with and after her kids since they really have
It may sound like a busy life for our Nanaygosyante for January, but she knows how to relax. She still gives herself time by being the chairman of their church's theater organization. And she loves baking! She even plans to open up her own bake shop for this year, aside from attending more bazaars. If you live within Marikina and would love to try satiable home-baked goodies, visit Uri's Favorites for more details.
She has many roles to play but she's focused on one thing: her family. Her advice to fellow moms who'd like to enter the world of entrepreneurship:
